This is what I saved today on my cup of Timmies with Harper’s vote buying GST cut. Meanwhile, Canadians will shell out approximately $300 million on debt servicing charges this year that could have been saved if the Conservatives had put that money toward paying down our debt instead of using it as a bribe. Next year Canadians will shell out roughly $600 million on debt servicing charges that could have been saved. The year after that it will be about $900 million and this will turn into $1.2 billion the year after that. And in a mere 12-14 years Harper’s shortsighted GST cut will cost Canadians more in debt servicing charges per year than they actually save with the one point of reduction. Now is that really worth a penny today? I think not.

Good post. Glad somebody remembers the national debt.
Imagine the good we could do if Canada had no debt.
Wow, a Dipper talking about reducing the debt? Is it snowing in hell?
Real men don’t like paying taxes.
Mr. Olsen, did you consider your post satirical - maybe even funny?
(psst…it wasn’t…it was stupid.)
Great to see the lefties all worrying about our national debt. I remember when we had a deficit, the same lefties were screaming bloody murder about our “social deficit” being far more damaging. But I guess when you’ve lost that battle, debt/deficit becomes your default position while you rail against the new evil - TAX CUTS!. (You’ll lose that one too by the way.)
couldn’t help notice the penny pic was outdated. found the all new, stephen harper penny and posted it

What a liar. I doubt he remebers what happened yesterday.
Because it was, but since we’re takiing great strides in that direction, we can tackle other things.
I doubt anybody likes paying taxes but many of us appreciate what our tax dollars buy.
Honestly, I think all the hand-wringing over the GST cut will be short-lived. I think a lot of provinces will be raising their PST by a point to make up the difference. In fact, Harper is pushing them to harmonize the PSTs with the GST. Does anyone know what the default PST rate is to be allowed to do that? It’s 8%. Therefore, most provinces will be raising it by a point, and lowering income taxes as an offset. It”ll basically be a way of transferring more taxation power to the provinces from the feds.
$300 million on debt servicing charges
$600 million on debt servicing charges
more in debt servicing charges
Was the millions of dollars the Liberals spent “servicing debt charges” by taking our money, and then paying someone to SEND IT FUCKING BACK a better way of “servicing” the debt?
I think not.
Do I care more about the government’s debt than I do my own??? I think not.
Enjoy the penny brainwave…
Well Knight, you are clearly well informed on debt and deficit, perhaps you could explain to us how the government services that debt?
Do you know?
I think if you did, you might see Robert’s advice as very economically sound.
So I anxiously await your explanation. Until then, I will consider anything you say the ramblings of a fool.
Ti-Guy, you keep saying other people are liars, without any sort of evidence.
Please provide the evidence. Else I suppose you need to call yourself a liar.
Never mind, don’t answer that, just be quiet, go away and don’t post anymore, ever.
