STAY AT HOME MOMS LESS HEALTHY

This is certain to drive the religious wingnuts and mommy bloggers bonkers.

According to new research carried out in Britain, working mothers enjoy better health than full-time housewives. Despite the stress working mothers face by holding down a job, dealing with childcare, housework and striving to keep the family happy.

It appears that working mothers, when compared to full-time housewives, are less likely to become overweight, have a better level of health and a healthier relationship. The study also found that single mothers experience the worse health than working mothers who have a partner and children.

I think it is more certain to drive the “common sense” people bonkers…
So basically, women that don’t work all day are fat, lazy, and fuck around. That’s the gist of what I’m reading. I really can’t see a negative in being a good homemaker, but “researchers” disagree. How can I argue?

  2. DId the study control for single welfare moms?(i.e. eliminate welfare moms from the sample) If not, then just what result did they expect?

Actually, I’d like to see the “mommy bloggers” go bonkers. They’re so fucking annoying.

homemaking is quite often just lonely and isolating - probably not all that emotionally healthy, either. it makes family life easier - logistically - i know, having someone at home, but i doubt it’s in the interests of most women to do it. we live in a society that values the earning of money. which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. it just is. i know, i know: “but what of the children?” well, what of the children? they grow up. move out. get jobs. whether mom stayed home or not.

I think you’re all missing the point. It’s not that women should or shouldn’t be housewives, it’s about them being able to choose what they want for themselves.

no. i’m saying they shouldn’t be allowed to choose to be housewives because then they’d be choosing to be married to their houses and their husbands would get jealous and enraged and beat them up.
