AKISMET AND OBNOXIOUS TROLLS

As you may have noticed, a few of the obnoxious trolls who were tossed out a while ago have begun reappearing. There’s a simple reason for this. I cleared out the banned poster’s list. And I did it for a good reason.

There are too many ways to avoid a ban. The Akismet spam filter however, is a learning program. When spam appears on a blog using it, the administrator can tag it as spam. After a while the Akismet program will clue in and begin automatically tagging these posts as spam…on every blog that uses Akismet.

So I’ve begun tagging the obnoxious trolls as spam. It may take some time, but eventually Akismet will pick up on the repetitive nature of their posts and begin zapping them. Until it does, just ignore their ranting.

This website uses IntenseDebate comments, but they are not currently loaded because either your browser doesn't support JavaScript, or they didn't load fast enough.

Rightwingers don’t have to make sense or be consistent. They just have an overwhelming desire to think they’re right and to think they’re winning an argument.I’m sick to death of the fuckers. I’d go over and troll their blogs, but most of them moderate their comments like the fascists they are.

    He’s Right, for once.
Yet, I still doubt I’ll be hearing Ti-Guy bitch about the “fascist” nature of THIS post…

    Fuck off, asshole.

    Robert, ban this idiot.

    Fucking hypocrite…

  2. Uh oh Robert it’s not working….that bloated bluebottle of a Knight is buzzing around again. Forget that fancy program. For about fifty bucks you can get one of those big bug zappers from Canadian Tire. Then all you have to do is tape a quarter to the zapper and all those greedy little right wingnuts will fly right in. Zap. Zap. Sizzle. Crackle. Pop. End of problem…

Sure, there is some trolls (opponents to Robert) ranting. But I would certainly characterize many the left side as ranters too (such as Ti, arthur, et al).

  5. Polly said,

So you actually prefer that those who disagree with your posts do not add comments to your blog? Wouldn’t that make it even more of an echo chamber than it already is?
What would ti-guy have to spaz about if we never dropped by to poke him with a stick? He’d probably get bored and quit reading this blog.
    You should thank us trolls!

  6. Ti-Guy said,

Robert seems a little confused between dissenting opinion and unsolicited advertisements. Methinks the Auto Kismet folks will be blocking his feed once they discover that he’s intentionally tagging legit comments as spam.

Shut the fuck up, you sociopathic retard. If you’re thinking, you’re trolling.

Wow! An ad hominem attack that manages to use a swear word, the imperative voice, insults those with mental health issues AND those with learning disabilities all in one sentence. It further demeans the idea of thinking, comparing it with histrionic behaviour. What’s more, it doesn’t even attempt to address the comment it quotes in a reasoned manner.

And all this on a reputedly left-wing (read bleeding heart) blog.

    A classic!

Thank you. By the way, when douche-bags like you use that term, it’s pronounced “ad MOMMEE-nem.” As in “Mommee….he’s calling me names!”

    You’re welcome.

    …fuckwad.

Oh, ban me! Ban me! I haven’t yet had the honour of being called a spammer because I’ve never sent spam. I didn’t know it could be accomplished by merely disagreeing with someone! Wow…. Right-wingers usually just delete my comments when they don’t like them.

  12. Ti-Guy said,

A little lesson…when you express the “opinion” that you like roasting kittens, a harsh reaction to that is not simply a matter of disagreement.

…so it goes with Reich-winging trolls.

  13. Matthew said,

I’m no expert, but my guess is that if this tactic works at all, it will start tagging posts that contain any kind of repeated talking point, which means that anyone who repeats such things will potentially be censored. Last time I checked, right wingers weren’t alone in this. Robert will most likely end up censoring his own supporters before long.

  14. Ti-Guy said,

    God, rightwingers are stupid.

People have tried to use Akismet like this since its launch, and have never been successful. All this does is (at first) get your submissions ignored, and if it continues you’ll eventually be fully blocked from using the service. It’s not a tool to block people you disagree with, or even people who are assholes, it’s specifically for spam.

  17. Derrell said,

Accually, lesbians do like boys, just in a plutonic sort of way… just sayin is all.

I think it’s about time I reminded you that they hate us for our freedoms Ti-Guy. In this case our freedom to mispel words, look at Zorpheous for example, he takes a lot of freedom there, some would say too much freedom, but not me, nope.

  18. Poking sharp sticks into the hate-spewing shit sack Ti-Guy is the real reason for this blog. Just think, how many of you would bother to read any of the predictably stupid posts without having that opportunity to look forward to?

That’s an excellent point. I couldn’t have put it better myself.

  19. Ti-Guy said,

I’m glad I got all of those screen caps…

  20. Ti-Guy said,

good gawdess, twigs and pebbles may hurt……nothing.

  24. arthurdecco said,

segertillslut, Polly, bazoo, Caveat, Raging Ranter, and Rupert:

Scout pointed out that anyone who posts opposing opinions here gets treated with respect they deserve unless their posts are more of the same meaningless drivel and outright lies that pass for discourse with the least intelligent members of the political spectrum. That goes for idiots from both the left and right, though people who label Jack Layton, or anyone else, Taliban Jack, or whatever other juvenile insult makes them twitter this minute, deserve nothing less than the full wrath of those of us who want to see a creative and constructive dialogue around the issues.

You people have stop being angry with us for not allowing you to pass off thuggery and stupidity as political punditry.

The sad fact is that most of the idiotic postings on My Blahg seem to issue forth from the whinger side, including some (if not all) of the stupidest lefty comments. (Think of State pretending to be a lefty using one of his many assumed names in order to undermine progressive points of view).

The minute you fellows develop an original or even a considered idea and present it to the readers and posters of My Blahg, I’m sure you’ll be welcomed civilly. (Raging Ranter can attest to that because he’s actually engaged in a few thoughtful exchanges with progressive thinkers here. Not nearly enough, but a few, nonetheless. He has also born the brunt of my hostility for engaging in the wasteful and destructive use of misinformation and bluster to bolster his limp arguments.)

Ti-Guy and I, (among many others), aren’t averse to hearing opposing views. It’s just that we’ve had it UP TO HERE with belligerent morons who have nothing to say beyond whatever foolish talking point they’ve been convinced to pass on by the manipulative ideologues who lead them around by their political and societal noses. And as for the worst offenders amongst you, it’s always been your mental health issues that appear to have trapped you in this endless cycle of mind-numbing verbal violence.

I realize it may be difficult for you to deal with the issues rather than your own peculiar personal connections to them, but could you try a little harder?

Those of you who aren’t sociopathic might be surprised by the results.

Good God, do you ever get tired of being a scolding prig? Tell me something, Larry Joe…do most people yawn around you a lot?

  32. Larry Joe said,

do most people yawn around you a lot?

Unless you have a hinged jaw, it would be pretty difficult to yawn around me… or any standard adult human.

What an odd question. I always assumed your *yawn* response was simply a shorthand indicator that you’d reach the limits of your intellectual leash. Little did I imagine that you’re actually trying to wrap your lips around others. That’s really creepy. Really, really creepy.

I’ve done a little excavation and lowered my opinion of you still further. If this keeps up, I’ll have to get a sump pump.

  33. Ti-Guy said,

Unless you have a hinged jaw, it would be pretty difficult to yawn around me… or any standard adult human.

This dip-stick literalism of yours isn’t nearly as clever as you think it is.

You really are a crashing bore, LJ. Don’t be ashamed of it though; as I’ve always said, the world needs boring people. Otherwise, fascinating people wouldn’t stand out.

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart. :-P

  34. Larry Joe said,

You really are a crashing bore, LJ.

Hilarious stuff. It’s like you really feel there is some drama and excitement to be found in your chosen lifestyle. I already told you; you can’t be cool online.

Therefore it is entirely pointless to suggest that I’m “boring” D’uh! I’m online - I’m boring by definition. As are you. Now we could talk about degree if you like, but I imagine you’re going to do that creepy *yawn* thing again.

  35. Ti-Guy said,

Sorry. I wasn’t listening. Could you repeat that?

  36. Larry Joe said,

Sure. I’ll make it shorter for you.

You’re a little confused about what makes for an interesting and rewarding lifestyle. Posting obscenities to the internet is neither.

  37. Ti-Guy said,

You seem to like it. You keep coming back for more, after all.

  38. Larry Joe said,

The difference is, I know I’m wasting time. Coming here is a pointless diversion that is occasionally good for a laugh. Speaking of which, I will give you credit for not joining in the back-patting display. I guess, even for you, it would be too much of a stretch to call yourself fair-minded and civil.

    Know thyself, eh Ti?

  39. Ti-Guy said,

  40. Bill-Muskoka said,

Yawning is the reflex caused by the brain when it needs more oxygen.

    Here is a simple explanation:

    http://faculty.washington.edu/chudler/yawning.html

    # In humans, the earliest occurrence of a yawn happens at about 11 weeks after conception - that’s BEFORE the baby is born!

This explains a lot I think!

Here is a little more technical reference:

    http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/003096.htm

Yawning is a normal response to fatigue and drowsiness, but excessive yawning can be caused by a vasovagal reaction and may indicate a heart problem.

Normal yawning may be induced when the brain or lungs are not getting enough oxygen (or when someone else yawns).

Most interesting is the vasovagal reaction and may indicate a heart problem.

    Note, that is not vasovaginal!

I think we have another army here in the Muskoka we could use to totally eliminate the friggin’s Taliban…Moose hunters.

Yep, its that time of year again. Now, what we do is provide free airlift, drop all these foam antlers with notes that read ‘If you really love Allah, then wear these!’ Then BLAM! They are gone! Just one week and it will be all over!

Hey, they will even bring their own ATV’s for transport. What the heck, the have the camos, they have the guns, they have the itch! Granted those mating calls are gonna be a tad weird, but the Talis like wierd stuff! :”Hey, Achmed, What is that sound? I don’t know, we better go check it out!’ BLAM!

Let’s turn this into a profitable business…with the CF as guides to herds of Talis. How’s that for plan troopers?

    Smarten up.

You’ve lived here long enough to know better.

(Is this what happens to ex-marines when their friends are fighting a war they would otherwise not approve of?)

Loyalties can be contradictory, can’t they, Bill? You know, I don’t like who’s winning that battle for you just now.

(Have you given any thought to that yourself?)

  43. Bill-Muskoka said,

    arthurdecco,

Sorry, you did not catch the ironic humour I was attempting to present. #42 was meant totally as humour. Then, maybe I know the local moose hunters better living here?

As to our troops in Afghanistan they have my 100% support. Harper does not however. I learned the distinction in ‘Nam. Troops are one side and politicians the other.

I am also a realist in that the Taliban are nothing but gangbangers. My treatment of such is not fuzzy or warm, I want them shiting their kaftas and asking the serious question ‘What am I doing this for?’ Answer: ‘Fuck it. I am going home to my friends and family!’

We are there. The mission, which should be peacekeeping has had to escalate to warfare to actually deal with the Taliban. I do not live under the delusion they are able to be negotiated with when they are murdering their people for power. We have the same scenario on Toronto and Scarborough’s streets. Thugs versus law enforcement.

There were talks between our commanders and certain Taliban leaders a few weeks ago to mitigate the bloodshed, and we have not, at least I have not, of the outcome. You may recall that in the news mon ami?

Like it or not…we do have a military and military is formed to do such a job under Rules of Engagement. The troops swore to obey lawful orders so any debate about those orders must be directed at PM Harper and the Parliament, not the troops themselves.

President Karzai, regardless, of personal politics, did present his view on the matter and was courteous and sincere.

I do, however, take grave offense at the parts he and Harper parrot from Bush that ‘We are protecting Canada’s freedoms’ That is pure political rhetoric. Not one of our freedoms is in jeopardy here. That may play in the States, but not here.

The recent report that there is an increase in extremists jihadists is no surprise either. I would be a tad jihadist if our country were invaded by foreign troops. At least we are under a UN directive in Afghanistan, and that is another issue.

As to loyalty mine is 100% to Canada. I do not support Bush’s War on Terror and do not even believe it and all the rhetoric that we have had to be inundated with for the past five years. Yet, I will support the troops because they are there without any real choice. Even the U.S. Generals are now saying outright that Bush is failing the troops in equipment and supplies.

I still remember that it was the U.S. who put Sodumb Insane in power and solely to counter the Ayatollah Kohemani after the U.S.’s puppet the Shah of Iran fell.

While I am totally against war as a means of settling political disputes, I must, by rational thought, support actions that aide and assist those oppressed by criminals. That is what the Taliban are. No different than organized crime or gangbangers here. They are a public nuisance and danger to civilized people anywhere.

Let us never forget that people like the Taliban play by whatever they choose to do, there are no rules…that is why they are criminals.

  44. lenny said,

    Bill,
I know it’s hard to keep track of all the thugs that the U.S. has helped bring to power, but I don’t think Saddam was one of them, though they certainly supported him in his war against Iran.

  45. Bill-Muskoka said,

    lenny,

Sodumb Insane was aided and abetted by the U.S….same difference to me. The list is beyond recall at this point. Noriega, Marcos, Shah, and many only the CIA and State Department know about.

Recall the fiasco of the Operation Desert Storm in 1991, an election year. There was the beady eyed Emir of Kuwait who was promoting drilling under the Kuwait/Iraq border and stealing Iraqi oil (remember that Kuwait used to be part of Iraq as well). What happened? Iraq said stop doing it or we will invade you and stop you.

G.H.W. Bush, via April Glaspy of the U.S. State Department told Iraq ‘It is an Arab problem. We do not involve ourselves in such disputes.’ They gave Iraq the ‘Green light’ to proceed, and then Bush remembered it was an election year! What happened next is history. Did they allow Swartzkoff to go to Baghdad? No!

What a fiasco of foreign policy they have had.
