The conservatives are upset over two MPs, Borys Wrzesnewskyj(Liberal) and Peggy Nash (NDP), advocating that Hezbollah be taken off the list of terrorist organizations in order to allow for peaceful negotiations to take place.
All I have to say about the outrage of the conservatives is this. Who cares what they think.
These are the same people who cheered on Israel’s disastrous invasion of Lebanon that killed more than a thousand civilians, destroyed billions of dollars of Lebanese infrastructure and made Hezbollah more popular than ever in the region.
These are the same people who have cheered on America’s disastrous invasion of Iraq that has killed more than a hundred thousand civilians, installed an Iran friendly Shia government and has made the country a training ground for terrorists.
These are the same people who have cheered on Canada’s involvement in a five year, unwinnable civil war in Afghanistan that has killed tens of thousands of civilians, returned the nation to being the number one heroin producing nation in the world and added to the destabilization of the entire Middle East.
These are the same people who think terrorism should be fought by beating the drums of fear, giving up our rights and freedoms and encouraging bigotry toward Muslims.
In short, these are the same people who have supported–without question or allowing dissent–the disastrous neocon policies that have made our world less safe.
So who cares what they think about the idea of taking Hezbollah off the list of terrorist organizations. Conservatives have no credibility when it comes to how terrorism should be dealt with. It’s high time the supporters of this dismal foreign policy realized that and shut the hell up so the adults in the room can attempt to deal with the problem.

So, by your logic doing something provably incredibly stupid, destructive, and overall not productive (the con methods create more terrorists than they stop) is better than not doing anything at all? That is a pretty weak position.
Regardless, there are many other ways that terrorism can be dealt with by going to the root of the problem rather than killing people you don’t like and taking away liberties. Look at the real cause of terrorism (and no, it is not that Islam is a “violent” religion), and suddenly real alternatives to deal with it become obvious.
As well, dealing with terrorists in a perfectly legal, judicial way without jailing them without cause, etc works incredibly well also since the general populous of these nations will not support people who they agree are breaking the laws that they consider dear. Jailing random people, searching houses violently, and bombing civilians doesn’t stop terrorism, it just increases it.
At this point, (and American Cons are starting to realize this) we need to look at other alternatives to deal with the terrorism problem rather than just bombing the heck out of these people and taking away civil liberties.

Hezbollah is on the terrorist list for a reason. Look at all the weapons they threw at Israel. Remember, Hezbollah is not a state and does not have the UN charter on its side in its use of force. The UN has unequivacly called for Hezbollah to disarm under 1559. Once this has been done I am sure Canada will remove them from our list.
Hezbollah flags are fine in Canada - free speech and all - as long as they are not used in a way which could be seen as incitement to violence (which is illegal in Canada and would count as hate speech). The only difficulty is how did these peple get those flags? Purchasing flags likely provides some, if miniscule, financial support of Hezbollah which is illegal.

So the Gay belief isn’t all that important, because it seems to me that the evil righties at least tolerate them, whereas the good freedom fighter Islamicists reaction would be pretty extreme, to say the least.
So I don’t understand how these freedom fighter Islamicists can be considered by the left as “good” because they would prefer to kill all the gay people.
So we are just left with the warmonger part.
Now the fact that these Islamic freedom fighters stated goal is the complete and utter destruction of Israel, “push them into the sea” if you will, but this doesn’t make them warmongers too. They just want their land back.
Now before Israel even existed, pre 1947, that land belonged to Syria, Jordan, (other countries too possibly, Egypt?), but there was no country named “Palestine”. The Palestinians just lived in these other countries. But none of these countries were “bad” because they were all Arabic countries and all Arabic countries are good. But we can’t blame Israel for it, because Israel didn’t even exist….
Can’t blame Bush for it, because he wasn’t even born yet (or was 1 year old at the time).
Can’t even blame the US for it, because they didn’t really have anything to do with it, they were occupied in Europe.
Can’t blame the UN for it, even though they created this new nation, everything the UN does is good, and they can’t do bad things either. Even though they created this new nation “Israel” and didn’t create a “Palestine”.
So all the nations around this new Israel immediately declare war and attack and get their butts kicked. (But they are not warmongers; it was all Israel’s fault). And Israel keeps some of their land.
Yasser Arafat, an Egyptian, decides he will become the leader of the Palestinians, and invents hijacking and the killing of civilians including women children and old men in wheelchairs. But he is a good guy, a freedom fighter killing the warmongers.
So they give him a Nobel peace prize. And he amasses a personal fortune approaching a billion dollars. Somehow. Although he never held a real job or owned a business a single day in his life. And he handled the flow of relief money to the Palestinian people. How can that be? Let’s just say he was creative. Too bad that none of that billion dollars ever went to help “his” people.
So now the Israelis have to endure constant bombings and killings but hey, they deserve it, they are warmongers who occupied other people’s lands. They can’t even build a fence to try to protect themselves because fences are bad. All because the Palestinians, who never had a country before, want one now. And its Israel’s fault.
Now Hezbollah (Iran) wants to wipe them off the face of the planet. They might be willing to give Palestine the leftovers, but what they really want is Israel to just disappear. They amassed a huge stockpile of weapons in Lebanon, and fling them across the border and occasionally cross over and kill Israelis.
