OUR DEMOCRACY IS BROKEN: PART TWO

Here’s another clip from In Conversation with Macleans: Our Democracy is Broken that aired last Wednesday on CPAC. You can watch the entire program here. This clip is of Ed Broadbent’s opening remarks.

Broadbent talks about creating stable government during this time of minority Parliaments by forming negotiated coalitions and cites as an example how the two largest parties in Germany have done that. Is this the way to go even if the result could be a negotiated coalition between the Conservatives and Liberals?

ALLEGED PLOT TO ASSASSINATE CHAVEZ

Al Jazeera has video of an alleged plot linked to Colombia to assassinate the Venezuelan President.

During a recent news segment, Al Jazeera aired a video obtained from inside Colombia of an interview conducted by police investigators of incarcerated Colombian paramilitary assassin Geovanny Velasquéz Zambrano. During the interview, obtained exclusively by Al Jazeera, the Colombian paramilitary confirmed that a “wealthy Venezuelan politician” named Manuel Rosales, offered him $25 million to assassinate President Chávez by any means.

THE REVIEWS ARE IN

Angus Reid has the details.

The national result:
Conservatives - 37%
Liberals - 29%
New Democrats - 16%
Bloc Quebecois - 9%
Greens - 8%

So how will the Liberal Party react to the verdict of Canadian voters on their latest strategy. They’re doubling down in the face of disaster. Good luck with that, eh.
