LIBERAL MATURITY IN THE HOUSE OF COMMONS

I guess the MP for Cape Breton, Rodger Cuzner, is the Liberal Party’s Pierre Poilievre.

Update: Remember when liberals were outraged that Conservatives were using the time allotted for MPs to make statements to attack Liberals.

Since returning in January, the House has been in session for a total of 49 normal business days.

On each of those 49 days, the schedule, as dictated by Standing Order 31 of Parliament, has dictated that 15 minutes before Question Period be reserved for “statements by members”—time typically used by MPs to publicly celebrate local bake sales, pass on congratulations to noteworthy constituents or champion personal causes.

Through yesterday, Conservative members have used 81 of these statements since the House returned to cast aspersion or accusation on the Liberal opposition or its leader.

But that was then. Now liberals love it when it’s their MPs using that time to attack the NDP. There’s no line liberals won’t cross in pursuit of their obsession with attacking the NDP.

HERE’S MUD IN YOUR EYE, LIBERALS

Conservatives are seeing the same thing in Ignatieff’s recent actions as I am.

It isn’t enough for the Liberals to finally vote against the government, even if it doesn’t lead to an election. It isn’t enough for Layton and the NDP to reverse field and support the government, not if the NDP has a rationale for its action, and not if the NDP is gets credit in some quarters for having made the right decision for Canadians. To exorcise the ghost of Stephane Dion’s disastrous run as Liberal leader, and to repair the self-inflicted damage Ignatieff suffered with his own waffling and backtracking, the Liberals need the NDP to capitulate. Completely. To crawl on the ground. To say that they’re afraid of an election right now.

Like the Liberals did 79 times.

This isn’t “parliament working”. This is some sort of twisted psychotherapy session for Michael Ignatieff and the Liberals.

A billion dollars in EI reform being rushed through by the Liberals, not to help Canadians in need, but to set the circumstances for Ignatieff and his party to deal with their own insecurities.

At various times over the past three and a half years the Liberals have become obsessed with lashing out at the NDP. Each time it gets worse, but now it’s more than just the dippers who are noticing it.
