LAYTON IS CHANGING HIS TUNE

Wow, I never would have believed it if it hadn’t come out of his own mouth.

Layton said his party, unlike the Liberals, is determined to make Parliament work and will not oppose the government for the sake of opposing. He refused to get drawn into threats about defeating the government if Harper ignores opposition priorities, preferring to wait and see.

I’m now forced to admit the liberal bloggers are right. Layton is tucking his tail between his legs and running away from…What’s that. Layton actually said that on March 24, 2006. Nevermind then. I guess Layton hasn’t changed his tune in nearly 4 years and the libfloggers are just getting dumber every day.

ANOTHER HARPER TAX HIKE

Stephen “I won’t raise taxes” Harper strikes again. I’ve lost count. How many times now has Harper raised taxes while adamantly insisting he won’t raise taxes?

CATHOLIC ARROGANCE

So this quote from Peterborough Bishop Nicola De Angelis is making the rounds on some socon blogs.

I fail to understand how secular powers and government agencies should think they are in a position to tell the church that she is wrong in her internal rules and regulations, even though these have directed and shaped the life of the church during the last 2,000 years. However, this is what we face today. If the Human Rights Tribunal should choose to interfere with the church’s governance, this will be most shocking. The tribunal has no authority to place itself as an arbiter of canonical precepts.

Excuse me, but if it weren’t for the secular powers and government agencies interfering in the internal rules and regulations of the Catholic Church they’d still be covering for their pedophile priests. Catholics need to understand one thing. The Catholic Church is on strict probation and if it strays even a little, the hammer of the state will come crashing down upon it. If Catholics don’t like that, too damned bad. They should take it up with their church leaders who allowed this and other abuses–that I’m paying for–to continue for decades.

ANTI-SEMITISM BY PROCLAMATION

Shorter Marky Mark: Arthurdecco is an anti-semite. Just look at what he wrote here and here. Now that I’ve proven Arthurdecco is an anti-semite simply by declaring it you must agree with me.

Sorry Mark, but if you want to convince me that Arthurdecco is an anti-semite you’re going to have to do better than because I say so. I have this weird fetish that compels me to hear actual arguments making the case that something is true before I’ll even consider accepting it as true.

CANADIAN MEDIA WANTS TO APPOINT HARPER AS PRESIDENT

There’s a consensus amongst the Canadian media that we should not have an election. There’s also a consensus amongst the Canadian media that the Governor General should not offer the opposition parties a chance to form a government. So where does that leave us? The only option left is that one or more of the opposition parties must support the minority Conservative government at all times in order to avoid the other two options. In other words, there’s a consensus amongst the Canadian media that Harper should just be allowed to govern as though he had a majority.
