Liberal candidate Rebecca Finch and Jason Cherniak
Rebecca Finch is the Liberal candidate in the riding of Dufferin-Caledon. Recently she came under fire by the Conservatives for “extremist comments” that include “diminishing the crimes of Adolf Hitler, accusing the government of injecting babies to win votes, and callousness towards the victims of natural disasters.”
These extremist comments were written at an online magazine founded by Rebecca Finch called The metaBall. But these aren’t the only disturbing extremist comments written at this magazine. One article in Rebecca Finch’s magazine accuses Christians of being inherently anti-semitic.
Christians have been anti-Semitic from the get-go…Anti-Semitism is so bred in the Christian bone that Christians don’t even know they’re being anti-Semitic…Arab Christians in the Middle East have kept alive the image of the Jews as “Christ killers”, helping to enflame Muslim emotions against Israel. Western Christians don’t do much to dispel the image…Christian anti-Semitism that culminated in the Holocaust…
Another article in Rebecca Finch’s magazine accuses Catholics of “aiding and abetting” Hitler.
Adolph Hitler, raised a Roman Catholic, had as his primary goal to rid the world of Jews. He was aided and abetted by both the Lutheran Church and the Roman Catholic Church in Germany.
In Rome, Pope Pius XII tacitly approved of Hitler’s project…
It’s clear that this magazine founded by Liberal candidate Rebecca Finch engages in anti-Christian/anti-Catholic bigotry. Yet despite this Jason Cherniak sees no problem attending Liberal Party functions at Rebecca Finch’s side.
Jason Cherniak must come clean on his involvement with Rebecca Finch and must clarify whether or not he supports her magazine’s anti-Christian/anti-Catholic views. Otherwise the Liberal Party of Canada should ask Jason Cherniak to resign as President of Central Region for the Liberal Party of Canada (Ontario).
British PM Brown understands the seriousness of this financial crisis.
Mr Brown said he would do “whatever is necessary” to ensure the stability of the British financial system.
And here’s how the opposition parties in Britain are reacting.
David Cameron says the Conservatives will work with the government to tackle the financial crisis, telling his party faithful: “We’re in this together.”…
Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg said his party would also support measures to tackle the financial crisis, and “come together in the spirit of compromise in the interests of the British people”.
By comparison, with the exception of Layton our politicians are reacting to this crisis by burying their head up their ass.
Wow! I mean just fucking wow.
NDP Leader Jack Layton called on Stephen Harper to convene an all-party meeting this week on the U.S. economic crisis and its possible implications in Canada, but the Conservative Leader says that a separate meeting on the subject is not necessary…
“Our first and essential concern must to make sure that the savings, pensions, homes and jobs of ordinary working families are safe and secure,” Mr. Layton said.
The party leaders should discuss appropriate steps the government should take to avoid the type of crisis occurring in the United States happening here in Canada, he said.
The US is undergoing the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression yet Harper won’t take an hour or two away from the campaign trail to make sure the life savings and pensions of hardworking Canadians are kept secure.
Tied.
CP: 40%
LP: 21%
NDP: 21%
BQ:10%
GP: 7%
If you want to avoid a Harper majority there is only one choice and it’s not voting for the imploding Liberals.
Before I begin the roundup of day twenty I’d like to apologize to anyone who may take offense to whatever I say or whatever they think I said and tender my resignation to any organizations I am or ever will be involved in.
Sigh. If only this were for real.
“We need to go after the big polluters,” Byers continued. “We need to shut the tarsands down.”
Sadly however, even the NDP is willing to overlook the undeniable fact that the tarsands are creating the worst environmental disaster ever seen in Canada out of fear that they’ll be accused of ruining the almighty economy.
I’m not sure whether to laugh or cry over this.
I have therefore asked Ms. Hughes to step down as the Liberal Party candidate in Kildonan-St. Paul.
On the one hand it’s hilarious that Chernyuk’s smear has blown up in his face. On the other hand it’s truly frightening that any comment about Israel these days can be twisted into ugliness and induce a fascist frenzy amongst even normally level headed people.
Liberals at 24%. Burn baby, burn.
Whew! I think I made it through this post without offending anyone. I bet Jew didn’t think I could…oh crap!
What a gutless coward.
Prime Minister Stephen Harper, who has been campaigning in an unusually tight cocoon of security, says he has to do so because of threats against his life.
It’s funny that down in the US–where presidents are actually assassinated–neither Obama nor McCain are afraid of meeting with the great unwashed masses.
Nanos is showing Liberals are in freefall. Here’s why.
2006 Election: Durham
CP: 27,087 votes
LP: 17,290
NDP: 9,946
The NDP has no chance of winning this riding and the Liberals have at best a tiny chance of winning it. Despite this at least 8 libfloggers–some of whom are connected to the party–are howling about NDP candidate Andrew McKeever’s flamewar. Campaigns are like the gunfight at the OK Corral. But instead of shooting at the Clantons, liberals throughout the entire campaign to date have convinced themselves that victory will be theirs if they blast away at the water trough.
Shorter Deficit Jim Flaherty: Somebody needs to stop me before I bankrupt the country.
When did being a conspiracy theorist become a horrendous sin in Canada?
Shorter Potato Pete MacKay: Somebody needs to stop us from handing out federal grants to our crooked friends.
It looks like someone is getting a little worried that his supporters are going to vote strategically.
Stephen Harper made an unusually direct plea to his supporters at the end of a speech in Surrey, B.C., last night.
In an area with a number of complicated races where supporters might be inclined to vote for, say, the NDP or Greens simply to try to prevent Liberals from winning a seat, Harper recognized those lost Tory votes might prevent his party from sneaking up the middle (via so-called “splits”) to claim such a seat himself.
Don’t listen to Pappy Steve. This is a big opportunity for conservative voters living in ridings where the Conservative Party has no chance of winning to stick it to the Liberals by helping to elect a New Democrat.
And then it was 5. I would like to thank the Chernyukian wing of the Liberal Party for all their hard work.
The NDP are in CAHOOTS! with the Conservatives. No wait, the NDP are in CAHOOTS! with the Marijuana Party. No wait, the NDP are in CAHOOTS! with the 9/11 Truthers. It’s no surprise why the gap between the Liberals and NDP is now only 6 points.
The candidates are dropping like flies. Yesterday the Liberals lost their candidate in the Quebec riding of Mont Royal after a video posted on YouTube surfaced showing him riding through the streets of Montreal wearing a Nazi helmet. Stephane Dion was quick to point out that Pierre Trudeau does not represent what the party stands for. Meanwhile the NDP had troubles of its own after a blogger uncovered that the candidate for the British Columbia riding of Burnaby–Coquitlam wrote his thesis on eugenics. When reached for comment Tommy Douglas said he resigned so that Layton’s campaign wouldn’t be distracted by the issue.
Wow! Nanos has the NDP at 22%. About a year ago I did a quick survey through past election results to determine what percentage of the popular vote was required in our first past the post system for a party to begin winning a percentage of seats that roughly matches their popular vote. That number was 26%.
CP: 35%
LP: 30%
NDP: 22%
GP: 7%
BQ: 7%
Productivity down.
Canadian business labour productivity declined 0.2% in the second quarter of 2008, after declines of 0.6% in each of the previous two quarters. This is the longest series of consecutive quarterly declines since 1990.
Pension plans losing money.
The retirement savings of 4.6 million Canadian workers with trusteed pension plans lost value during the first quarter of 2008, following six consecutive quarters of gains.
Trade surplus declining.
Canada’s trade surplus with the world declined to $4.9 billion in July from $5.6 billion in June, as the growth in imports surpassed the growth in exports.
Unemployment rising.

Economy stalling.

Price of food soaring.

TSX soars almost 850 points
See what happens when you nationalize the banking industry.
It’s raining Macaca.
“If you behave and you’re sober and there’s no problem and if you sit down and whatever, I don’t care,” a female voice that the network identified as Lannigan responds in the recording.
Are Green Party supporters getting cold feet? Just four days ago Nanos had the Green Party at 9%. Today he has them at 6%.

I thought it would be good time to repost this chart and link to this post since Pappy Steve and his media shills are caterwauling about how much the opposition parties are promising to spend. Since this chart is more than a year old, Pappy Steve may have already passed Paul Martin and taken lead in the spending like a drunken sailorprime minister category.
Chernyuk is now attacking mythical candidates.
This just in on day eleven: Macaca!
Sources who took notes during the call said Ritz fretted about the political dangers of the crisis, before quipping: “This is like a death by a thousand cuts. Or should I say cold cuts.”
The outbreak has been linked to cold cuts from Maple Leaf Meats.
And when told about a new death in Prince Edward Island, Ritz said: “Please tell me it’s (Liberal MP) Wayne Easter.”
Better start updating your resume, Mr. Ritz.
Another one bites the dust.
Harpernomics!

Can we afford a Harper majority?
Before I begin today’s roundup I’d just like to point out that all of the blahg’s dissenters are idiots and a bunch of turds.
Day 10 and still no sign of NDP campaign signs in London West and London North Centre. If any Londoners are wondering, the NDP candidate for London West is Peter Ferguson and the NDP candidate for London North Centre is Steve Holmes. Irene Mathyssen is the incumbent NDP candidate for London Fanshawe.
The libfloggers seem to have stopped their campaign against the opposition NDP and redirected their attacks against the governing Conservatives. Smart move. The Liberals are in enough trouble without them throwing more grit in the gears.
Oh that liberal media. Will they ever stop shilling for the…er, Conservatives. Shouldn’t Pappy Steve have to declare ConWest as a campaign expense?
The heartpounding action continues on day whatever…
Good luck to the libfloggers who are using this strategy but there’s one thing I’ve learned over the past several years and elections; there’s a good reason why opposition parties don’t focus their time attacking other opposition parties during a campaign.
CTV has a roundup of the promises made by each party so far.
Oops there goes another one…
In cahoots: The Liberals are focusing more on the NDP and the Cons have decided to also. It would be irresponsible not to speculate if Pappy Harper and Dion plotted this strategy together.
The latest poll numbers from Nanos sums up the first week of the campaign. Nothing has changed since the `06 election.
Update: Does anyone else think it’s fitting that we’ll be heading to the polls the day after we stuff our bellies with Thanksgiving turkey?
Update II: Headline gold.
Taliban cheer Harper’s pledge to withdraw troops by 2011
It would be irresponsible not to speculate…
Update III: Forget to mention this sad little fact. After a full week I’ve now seen Conservative, Liberal and even Green campaign signs around London. Finding a New Democrat one however, has turned out to be as elusive as spotting Bigfoot, the Loch Ness Monster and Pappy Steve’s principles.
Here’s the roundup of action on ohmygodisitonlydaysixcauseitfeelslikesixtysix.
It doesn’t matter whether or not Lizzy Nader said Canadian voters are stupid because either way the fact remains that Canadian voters are stupid. Glad I could clear that up for everyone.
I don’t see Pappy Steve or Professor Dion converting guys who once referred to their party as losers to their team.
Policy watch:
Layton promises 10 beeelion dollars! to Newfoundland. Newfoundland Premier Danny Williams says Jack is making him randy.
Lizzy Nader says she’ll wash away 50% of a college or university graduate’s loan. The beer companies rejoice.
Pappy Steve announces a Canadian freemarket firesale; everything must go.
Professor Dion plans to retrofit our homes to make them more energy efficient. Recycling this tired old campaign promise will give a boost to Dion’s green cred.
I’ve been so busy lately I forgot to troll for gratuitous pats on the back by mentioning the Blahg entered into its sixth year of existence last week. Well…I’m waiting.
I also forgot to note that the Iraq War passed the 2,000 day mark a few days ago. Maybe Rumsfeld meant to say, “Five days or five weeks or five months, but it certainly isn’t going to be another hundred years war.”
A quick roundup of day five’s scary action.
Fearmongering watch:
Pappy Steve has a list. Did I mention it’s a list of Joooos! A list…of Joooos!
Pappy Steve. George Bush. Pappy Steve. George Bush. Pappy Steve. George Bush…
Well the Large Hadron Collider didn’t bring about the end of the world but Dion’s carbon tax certainly will.
Roadkill watch:
Green Party candidate John Shavluk for referring to the World Trade Center buildings as the Jewish World Bank.
Liberal candidate Simon Bédard for his decades old comments on the Oka standoff.
Conservative candidate Rosamond Luke for revelations of a criminal record.
Conservative communications director Ryan Sparrow for dissing the troops.
Green Party director of communications John Bennett for foolishly threatening to sue a blogger. Oops, this one hasn’t happened…yet.
Even I spit my morning coffee all over the computer screen after reading this one.
The New Democrats made a bold prediction today that they will capture up to a dozen seats in Quebec in the Oct. 14 election…
Oh well. If one is going to dream one might as well dream big.
Meanwhile that bastard Nik Nanos has driven a stake right through my Yippeee! and Yahooo! from yesterday.
CP: 37%
LP: 32%
NDP: 13%
BQ: 9%
GP: 9%
I refuse to believe it. Na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na…I can’t hear you, Mr Nanos.
Before I begin the roundup of day four’s action allow me this moment. Yippeee! In your face naysayers.
Yahooo!
The New Democratic Party has nearly doubled its support in British Columbia battleground ridings in less than a week at the expense of both the Liberals and the Conservatives, a poll shows.
Go Jack. Go Jack. Go Jack.
Smart politics. Although he can’t be trusted to keep his word Pappy Steve has swept Afghanistan off the table at a time when casualties are ramping up again and support for the war is at its lowest.
Smart politics too. As long as the Liberals don’t get carried away by making foolish claims that Pappy Steve is killing people, jumping on the Listeriosis crisis early is going to put the bug in some voter’s heads that Pappy Steve is killing people.
Good politics and good policy. This should help improve the NDP’s numbers in Ontario where good manufacturing jobs are bleeding away. As for being good policy, the green economy around the world is growing by leaps and bounds and Canada should not be left behind. While free marketeers will tell you that the free market can get the job done by itself, the reality is that most economic sectors throughout history owe their success to the large infusion of government cash that jumpstarted them.
Crisis averted, democracy saved. For the love of god will Lizzy Nader stop whining now.
Fearmongering watch: The Conservatives and NDP are in cahoots. In CAHOOTS! I tells ya. Oh that Chernyuk. Anyway, my response to this nonsense is to refer you to the top of this post. Yippeee! and Yahooo!
